(LIANG Chunyan of ThinkIT Speech Lab) The speech-searching and humming-retrieval products, which were researched by the joint work of IACAS and Baidu, made their debut in the Baidu World Conference 2010 recently.

Information should be acquired at all times and places in our daily life. It is the most natural way to search Internet information on telephones. However, the requirement can impossibly be satisfied due to the inconvenience of inputting words. Speech searching provides us a convenient means. We can find the related information quickly by saying what we want such as "industrial and commercial bank of china, Zhongguancun branch". Similarly, humming-retrieval also offers a convenient way for searching songs. When we don't remember the name or lyrics of a song but part of its melody, we can obtain the song by humming, which gives us a unique experience. In a word, the speech-searching and humming-retrieval provide us a convenient way of human-computer interaction to obtain Internet information. All of this can be attributed to the technique accumulation of ThinkIT Speech Lab, Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IACAS), including its advanced technique of music retrieval and speech recognition.

Recently, the joint laboratory of IACAS and Baidu has been announced to found, opening a new page of the cooperation between IACAS and Baidu.
