Piezoelectric transducers and transducer array is widely used in various branches of acoustic study and is an important part in acoustic research and application. With the development of acoustic study, the design of transducer is going towards higher and higher standard. Therefore, IACAS dedicatedly prepared a series of lectures on piezoelectric transducer and transducer array during Nov.19 to 23, 2007. The lectures was sponsored by IACAS and ASC (Acoustic Society of China) and greatly supported by Ultrasonic Physics and Testing lab. It was great honored to invite LUAN Guidong, WANG Renqian, ZHANG Jinduo (authors of Piezoelectric Transducer and Transducer Array) and Professor LI Mingxuan of IACAS to be the speakers of the lectures. They are all dedicated to the researches of transducer for many years and accumulated lots of experience. The attendants were not only from our institute but also from many other well-known companies and universities, such as China National Petroleum Corporation, China University of Petroleum and so on. 

This academic activity received high attention from the leaders of ASC and IACAS. Director TIAN Jing and Deputy Secretary WANG Xiaomin attended the opening ceremony, which was held on Nov.19. Director TIAN Jing delivered an opening speech and sent best wishes to the activity. In the ceremony, Prof. WANG Xiuming, director of Ultrasonic Physics and Testing lab pointed out the intention and significance of this activity and briefly introduced the main contents of the lectures.

The lectures covered many aspects of transducer study, such as the basic theory, practical measurement and project realization of transducer and so on. The attendants listened to lectures carefully in the class and discussed the questions with the teachers actively after class. With the help of the four teachers, the attendants said they all had a better understanding of the basic knowledge and practical application of transducers.

During the lectures, the attendants also got the chances to visit the Acoustic transducer and testing technology lab, reverberation room, anechoic room, semi-anechoic room and so on.

As the last part of the lectures, Prof. LI Mingxuan made a conclusion of the whole activity on behalf of all the teachers. He expressed great thankfulness to the organizers for holding such a meaningful activity and hoped that all the attendants would bring the knowledge learned in the lectures to practical work and share it with all the colleagues.
