(From OU Yangshan of Key Lab of Noise and Vibration Research) On August 25, 2011, Dr. Terry Lin, from Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane Australia, visited Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IACAS) and made a report entitled "Vibration of a clamped ribbed plate". The report was chaired by Dr. ZHOU Chengguang with many researchers and students participating in.
Dr. Lin gave a theoretical analyze and numerical simulation of the vibration modes of a clamped ribbed plate, then compared the differences between simulating results and experiment results. The comparison indicated that, the boundary conditions in experimental environment were not coincident with the defined conditions at low frequency. The applicable frequency ranges of theoretical analysis and experimental verification were given respectively. Next, Dr. Terry Lin introduced their research plan of fault diagnosis software system. The system consists of on-site machine fault monitoring and off-line accurate fault localization. Respectively, Dr. Lin showed the advantages of non-uniform speed on whole monitoring application and some interesting phenomenon of super-high-frequency analysis on fault localization. The system has been on research and development for more then seven years, and is expected to market in three years.
