On Nov. 1, 2006, Japanese Prof. Kenya Hashimoto of Chiba University, an international well-known expert in piezoelectricity and surface acoustic waves, visited the Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He was invited to be the guest professor of our institute last year.
Vice Prof. Li Honglang from our institute anchored the lectural meeting in Room 218 of Dezhao Building. Prof. He Shitang along with many scientists and postgraduate students attended the lecture. Prof. Hashimoto gave the audience a lecture titled "Full Wave Analysis of Surface Acoustic Waves" presenting his recent research results in FEM/BEM analysis, spectral domain analysis (SDA), strip admittance and effective theorem. He talked about the basic theories and research methodology in surface acoustic waves (SAW), which were of great importance to the SAW device analysis and design. After the lecture, prof. Hashimoto had a warm discussion with the audience.
Prof. Hashimoto does excellent work in SAW theory analysis and has rich experience in SAW design. He has published more than one hundred papers on SAW, among which some have become important references. As one of the lecturers sponsored by IEEE UFFC Distinguished Lecture Program, Prof. Hashimoto had given tour-lectures in his journey to China. His lecture in our institute was very impressive and enlightened, which let all the attendants benefit a lot.
