At the invitation of Underwater Acoustical Environment Laboratory, three scholars of CMST affiliated to Curtin University of Technology visited IACAS during Nov.9-12. Founded in 1985, the Centre for Marine Science and Technology (CMST) comprises a multi-skilled group of scientists and engineers committed to the development of technical ocean-related skills in Australia. The Centre has earned a reputation as a high quality marine technology research and development facility responsive to industry and government needs.

On Nov.9, Prof. Alexander Gavrilov and Dr. Alex Duncan gave reports titled "Methods and software for analysis of multibeam sonar data for seafloor classification and mapping" and "Modeling and measurement of seismic survey signals in Australian waters", respectively. After the reports, the scholars visited the Underwater Acoustical Environment Lab and had a discussion with the researchers and graduates. Furthermore, Prof. Alexander Gavrilov made another reports titled "The current role of global (long-range) acoustics in oceanographic, climatological and geophysical studies", which emphasized on the researches of climate changes monitoring by underwater technology, the glacier fracture of the Arctic Ocean and so on.

On Nov. 12, Prof. John Penrose gave a report titled "Australian marine parks development". He introduced the detailed information and research fields about CMST. After that, the visitors looked around the Anechoic Pool and saw the related presentations there.

The visit upgraded the understanding between our Underwater Acoustical Environment Laboratory and CMST, which laid a good foundation for the future potential cooperation.
