Dr. Li Junfeng of Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) paid a visit to our institute during Jun. 27 to Jul. 5. Director Yan Yonghong of ThinkIT lab visited Japan for two times this year and sent a kind invitation to Dr. Li Junfeng to visit our institute. Dr. Li's visit was an answer to the invitation.

During the visit, Dr. Li gave us a report titled "Noise Reduction Based on Microphone Array and Post-filtering for Robust Hands-free Speech Recognition in Adverse Environments". In his report, he briefly introduced the present situation research directions of JAIST and Tohoku University, his research work during the days he pursuing the doctor degree and so on. He especially focused on the introduction to noise elimination of the speech recognition system based on multi-microphone and post-filer technology in the harsh environment.

In ThinkIT lab, Dr. Li had a warm discussion with the researchers there. The topics covered the main research areas of the lab, including: speech recognition--key words search and pronunciation testing technology; signal processing--speech enhancement based on multi or single microphone, voice activity detection, single-channel auditory scene analysis based on speaker model, music retrieval, humming retrieval technology; basic speech research--speech sensing, sound switch technology and so on. Furthermore, Dr. Li exchanges ideas with the researchers of Communication Acoustics Lab and paid a visit to CAS Institute of Automation, Beijing Institute of Technology, Peking University and so on.　　 

The officials of Science and Technology also attended the seminars and made a further discussion on the future cooperation with Dr. Li. The two sides were determined to apply for the joint international projects in the future.
