Dr. Shi Yang was born and raised in Hubei in China. He received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Automatic Control from Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi'an, China, in 1994 and 1998, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, AB, Canada, in 2005.
From 1998 to 2000, he was with the Department of Automation, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. From 2004 to 2005, he was a Sessional Instructor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta. Since 2005, he has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Saskatchewan, SK, Canada. His research interests include network-based control, digital control, multirate control, system identification, multirate systems, DSP/communications, autonomous vehicles, robotics, and their applications. He was awarded 2006-2007 Teaching Excellence Award by University of Saskatchewan Student Union (USSU).
For his professional standing and experience in the field, our institute invited Dr. Shi to give academic lecture on May. 22. The event supported by National Natural Science Foundation was an important part of the international exchanges between Synthetic Sonar Technology Laboratory and Saskatchewan University.
Dr. Shi gave us the report titled "Filtering and Identification for Multirate Systems", which was warmly welcomed by the audience. After the report, Dr. Shi and Prof. Huang Haining, Director of Synthetic Sonar Technology Laboratory made a further discussion on the future cooperation and exchanges. |
