The 9th workshop of A3 foresight program “Ultra-realistic Acoustic Interactive Communication on Next-Generation Internet” hosted by the Key Laboratory of Speech Acoustics and Content Understanding of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was held in Beijing on October 31. About 80 professors, researchers and graduate students attended this workshop.
Based on an agreement among National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and Korea Research Foundation (KRF), this program supports joint research conducted by researchers from China, Japan and Korea. The three countries (A3) work as consortium in advancing leading-edge research with an aim to establishing a top-level research hub in Asia.
This A3 foresight program had provided the complete solutions for interactive ultra-realistic acoustic communication (URAC) over next-generation internet (NGI).
Through fully transmission of all sound field information over the highly QoS-guaranteed NGI, URAC enabled furnishing a highly realistic experience “beyond” space and time. The project contributed a lot to communication and media leading-edge technologies for NGI applications, and strengthened the exchange and collaboration in research and education between China, Japan and Korea.
After the workshops of the A3 foresight program had been held in Beijing, Seoul and Sendai, it came back to Beijing again this time. The 9th workshop included 18 oral presentations from different areas of ultra-realistic acoustic communication. It had provided an exciting venue for the exchange of the most state-of-the-art research progress on ultra-realistic acoustic communication.
"See you next year in Korea", one of the Korea graduate students said, which also represented the wishes of many participants.
