The 2nd China-Russia senior seminar of infrasound research was hosted by the Institute of Acoustics (IOA), Chinese Academy of Sciences on May 8, topics focusing on relevance between nature events and infrasound waves.

Experts from Russia and China shared their research progress by using presentations and discussions.

Prof. Igor Chunchuzov, Prof. Vitaly Perepelkin and Dr. Nadezda Tsybulskaya from the Obukhov Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Russian Academy of Sciences made three presentations respectively.

Igor Chunchuzov introduced a method of studying wind field variance in stratified atmosphere for exact inversion of fine-scale wind velocity structure, while Vitaly Perepelkin talked about infrasound waves from the Black sea. Besides, Nadezda Tsybulskaya proposed a new method to research infrasound signals called Morphological analysis.

Afterwards, YANG Yichun from IOA and SU Wei from the Institute of Geophysics, China Earthquake Administration (CEA) also gave their presentations and made discussions about their research topics on the seminar.

Seminar attendees came from various institutes and colleges, like China Earthquake Networks Center, Northwest Institute of Nuclear Technology (Beijing, China), Changcheng Institute of Metrology & Measurement (Beijing, China), China University of Geosciences, Institute of Crustal Dynamics CEA, Institute of Earthquake Science CEA, Institute of Geophysics CEA, Beijing University of Technology and so on.

The seminar offered a good opportunity for exchange as well as cooperation between both sides to further explore new research methods for infrasound.
