Numerical Modelling of Mineralization Processes and Application to Mineral Exploration Introduced

 | |

Dr. ZHANG Yanhua, the principal research scientist at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industry Research Organization (Australia) was invited by the Ultrasonic Physics and Exploration Laboratory for academic exchanges at the Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IACAS) on Oct.30.

During Dr. ZHANG’s stay at IACAS, a lecture named “Numerical Modelling of Mineralization Processes and Application to Mineral Exploration” was given by him, focusing on fault reactivation and its effects on fluid flow in basins with case studies in the Timor Sea and a number of other regions. More than thirty staff and students from IACAS attended it.

In his lecture, Dr. ZHANG used many vivid examples to illustrate the numerical modeling of mineralization processes and its application to mineral exploration. The lecture was well received and Dr. ZHANG’s research in this lecture was warmly discussed.

Dr. ZHANG is an internationally famous structure geologist, and he has been working in the fields of coupled geomechanical and fluid flow modelling and structural geology for more than 30 years and got many achievements in this area.
