The 21st International Congress on Acoustics (ICA2013), was held in Montréal, Canada, 2013 June 2-7. During the congress, Prof. TIAN Jing from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) was elected as the Vice President for the International Commission on Acoustics (ICA) between 2013 and 2016.

The honor of Vice President for ICA was in recognition of TIAN's outstanding contributions to scientific knowledge in electro-acoustic and noise control.

Graduated from the Institute of Acoustics, CAS, Prof. TIAN has researched electro-acoustic and noise control for more than 30 years. He has been the principal investigator for 40 research projects supported by various funding bodies including National Ministry of S&T, National Natural Science Foundation, CAS, and other organizations. The research covers several areas of acoustics: active noise and vibration control, electronic anti-noise communication devices, audio characteristic signal control, acoustical MEMS, transmission and evaluation of traffic noise and applications of finite amplitude sound wave.

Prof. TIAN is currently the President of Chinese Society of Acoustics; Honorary fellow of International Institute of Acoustics and Vibration (IIAV), Executive Editor in Chief for Acta Acustica, Director member of Technical Committee of National Acoustical Standardization.
