During Oct. 9th to 10th, the Fourth IACAS Youth Conference was held in Beijing.

Headed by IACAS Director and Professor WANG Xiaomin, one hundred and seventy-five members from IACAS attended this conference.

In the opening ceremony, Director and Professor WANG Xiaomin said, “The Fourth IACAS Youth Conference comes upon the time of IACAS stepping into the ‘Innovation 2020’ and comprehensively promoting the ‘One, Three and Five’ strategic planning.” The youth conference was of vital significance to broaden the youth’s horizons, stimulate their enthusiasm, enlighten their thoughts and enhance their innovation abilities, which will contribute to the discipline and talent team constructions as well as the management work for IACAS.

Academician HOU Zhaohuan also delivered a warm speech, hoping the youth to grow fast to be able to become the successor of the older generation of scientists.

Academician ZHANG Renhe and WANG Chenghao and Director of IACAS academic committee, Professor WANG Xiuming made their theme reports “Progress in Basic Research of Ocean Acoustics”,　"Feelings and Experiences in Doing Research” and “Reservoir Acoustics and Its Application” respectively, introducing their professional researches and gained knowledge to attendees.

One hundred and fifty papers were included in this conference, involving underwater acoustics, ultrasonic, audio frequency, signal and information processing, management sciences and other disciplines.

There were four group units divided for the attendees to communicate: underwater acoustics team, audio frequency acoustics team, ultrasonic team and team of signal and information processing, three research divisions and management.

Underwater acoustics, acoustical transducers and test instrument, aero-acoustics,noise and vibration control, verbal acoustics and speech signal processing, solid acoustics, deep drilling measurement technology, ultrasonic testing technology and acoustical micro-electric mechanical system (AMEMS), medical acoustics, signal and information processing, network communications, management and related researches were covered and shared during the youth conference.

In the closing ceremony, Director and Professor WANG Xiaomin entrusted the youth, “Cherish your golden years and join the great era.” To realize the self value and ambition, the youth should align their personal careers with the advancing of the society, cherishing the golden years to join the great era.
