The congress was held in conjunction with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Noise Control and Acoustics Division (ASME NCAD) annual meeting, was sponsored by the I-INCE, and was organized by the United States Institute of Noise Control Engineering (INCE-USA). The Acoustical Society of America (ASA) and SAE International were also co-sponsoring the event. The theme of the congress is Quieting the World's Cities, and the special technical sessions and workshops highlighting city noise issues, as well the New York City noise code in particular was also held. In the congress, one thousand and thirteen (1,013) technical presentations and sixty (60) poster presentations were given, along with three plenary presentations.
Six papers from Key Laboratory of Noise and Vibration were reported in the congress. The topics covered the noise radiation of aircraft fuselage panels under turbulent boundary layers, modal coupling effect on the noise radiation, a necessary condition for convergence of adaptive filter with nonlinear secondary path in ANC system, the localization and separation for multiple noise sources using a microphone array, beam-pattern design for spherical array via convex optimization, and localization of infrasound waves radiated by natural events. The participants made lively academic exchanges with the scientist around the world. During the congress, Prof. CHENG Xiaobin on behalf of organizing committee of International Congress on Sound and Vibration (ICSV21) energetically propagandized the 21st ICSV21 which will be held from 13-16 July 2014, in Beijing, China.
