Congratulations to YAN Shefeng to Be IEEE Senior Member

Shefeng Yan

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is an international non-profit, professional organization for the advancement of technology related to electricity. It has the most members of any technical professional organization in the world, with more than 380,000 members in around 175 countries. Among its numerous members, only 8 percents are can rank as senior members.

YAN Shefeng, a professor of Department of Integrated Digital System, CAS Institute of Acoustics passed the strict review and got the qualification to be the senior member of IEEE.

Shefeng Yan received the B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi'an, China, in 1999, 2001, and 2005, respectively.

He was a Postdoctoral Research Associate with the Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IACAS) from 2005 to 2007, and with the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway from 2007 to 2009, respectively. In 2009, he joined IACAS as a Professor and was then appointed as the Acting Director of the Intelligent Sensing and Signal Processing Lab at IACAS. He is the author a book and about 30 refereed international journal and conference publications and the holder of 4 patents. His current research interests include underwater acoustics, statistical and array signal processing, and their applications.

Prof. Yan is a recipient of the Chinese 2008 National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award, which each year honors China's top 100 doctors who recently receive their doctoral degree in all fields from China. He is also a co-recipient of the Best Paper Awards at SENSORCOMM 2008 and WASPAA 2009. He is on the editorial boards of two journals of Bentham. He also serves as a reviewer of several international journals such as IEEE Trans. Signal Processing, IEEE Trans. Audio Speech Lang. Process., IEEE Signal Process. Lett., etc.
