2007 Workshop on Underwater Acoustics was held in Zhengzhou from Oct.12 to 15. 74 experts presented the meeting, including CAS Academician ZHANG Renhe, CAE Academician YANG Shie and some other professors and scholars in the field of underwater acoustics.

All together, 80 papers were received by the workshop committee. After the careful examination, 77 were chosen to be published in the proceeding. All these papers vividly reflected the current situation and latest research fruits in the national underwater acoustics studies.

This meeting provided a broad communication platform for the attendants. 42 reporters shared their papers with the audience. The reporters expressed their mind freely; the audience listened to the reports carefully; the reporters and the audience discussed warmly. The harmonious atmosphere best explained the aim of this meeting --to promote academic prosperity. What's more encouraging was most of the reporters were young scholars. The growing up of the young generation showed the bright future of this subject in our country.

During the meeting, some of the committee members of Underwater Acoustics Branch held the work meeting and defined the work targets for next year.
