During the 19th International Congress of Acoustics, Prof. K. Attenborough, editor-in-chief of Applied Acoustics and the staff members of journal got together to held the new editorial board. On the meeting, Prof. Attenborough invited Director TIAN Jing, the board of Acoustical Society of China and director of IACAS, to be the associate editor of Applied Acoustics.

Applied Acoustics was first launched in 1968 by the Elsevier, the world's leading publisher of science and health information. Applied Acoustics provides state-of-the-art coverage of research findings for engineers and scientists involved with the design of buildings with active and passive noise control and with structural and computational acoustics and vibrations. Applied Acoustics also looks at recent developments in the understanding of musical instruments, and sound propagation through the atmosphere and underwater, and at ways of exploiting that understanding. The Journal aims to encourage the exchange of practical experience, whether in the form of a complete paper or a short technical note or letter, and in so doing creates a fund of technological information that can be used for solving related problems. There are about 100 papers published in the journal each year and the modificational factor is 0.484. The main sources of the papers are from Asia, West Europe and North America. In the recent years, the number of papers from China increased quickly.

Before invited to be the associate editor, Director TIAN Jing has been the editors of the Applied Acoustics for 3 years. His promotion and more and more experts' enrollment into the leading parts of the international academic organization symbolized that our institute plays a more and more important role in the international acoustics fields.
