Academic seminar on underwater acoustic channel matching was held by Weak Acoustical Signal Detecting and Processing Lab from Aug.8-10, 2007. One proceeding was published after the meeting including 21 papers and the preface was written by Academician Li Qihu.
The seminar was anchored by Yu Huabing, the deputy director of the lab. 13 wonderful reports made at the seminar covered every field of the project, such as the theoretic studies of physical phenomenon, the new methods of signal processing, the applications of engineering and the R&D of new devices. During the reports, all the members actively raised questions and had warm discussions.
At the beginning of the seminar, Deputy Director Yu summarized the work in the previous period and introduced the destination and significance of this seminar. The seminar was divided into 3 parts. The first part is the brief introduction about the general design and plan of the project. Then Academician Li Qihu made a wonderful report. Academician Li introduced the status quo of the project and highly praised the achievements obtained in the previous stage. By analyzing the situation of home and abroad, he pointed out the work targets for the next step. The second part was mainly about the channel modeling and signal processing. Through analyzing the data of lake and sea experiments, the members in channel and signal processing group analyzed the physical phenomenon of underwater acoustic channel and put forward the new methods to deal with signal processing. The third part was about the experiment platform, which ensured the smooth development of the experiment. The colleagues in the platform group researched and developed a low frequency multifunctional device, covering the functions of signal generating, transforming, collecting and storing. It was a high-performance digital underwater acoustic device. After the tests of lake and sea experiments, it was proved to be qualified to meet the demand of large-scale underwater acoustic experiment. In addition, Prof. Zhu Ye also attended the seminar and put forward lots of valuable advices.
