Recently our institute received the letter of thanks from Capinfo Limited Company, which informed us the news that Capinfo was appointed to be the multi-language service supplier for 2008 Olympic Games and thanked our institute for providing the key speech technology and related products and service.

As an important program of the 863 Key Project, the "Olympic comprehensive information service platform" was jointly launched by the Ministry of Science and Technology and Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission and was assumed to be operated by the Capinfo company. This platform would provide the multilingual information service for more than 2.9 million audience, 300 thousand registered members and foreign visitors during the Olympic Games. The publics could access to the Olympic information at any time in any way.

In the whole program, the research of the important module "embedded multilingual speech recognition system" was undertaken by ThinkIT lab of our institute. If this system is put into operation, both the Chinese and English speakers could easily get the information they want, such as the event result, transportation and traveling information by the way, such as mobile phone, PDA, information kiosk and so on. Besides the application to the information service platform, this system was also integrated in some China-made mobile phones.

ThinkIT lab has won the first prize in many national speech recogntion competitions since founded. Now it has become the most authorized research institute in speech recognition and audio signal processing in China. ThinkIT lab was the only research institute that obtained the autonomous intellectual property and launched the large scale business applications in domestic market.
