On Jul.7, ThinkIT lab successfully held the HNC science salon in Wuke Hotel. This salon consisted of two parts: an introduction to the recent development of HNC research and a discussion of the hot issues in natural language processing. This salon was launched by Prof. Huang Zengyang of HNC research group and was actively responded by the experts in the same field. The aim of this activity was to develop the science salon atmosphere for the domestic researchers in this field. Ju Qi, Deputy Director of our institute and Yan Yonghong, Director of ThinkIT lab also attended the salon.　　

Firstly, Director Ju Qi delivered an opening speech. She highly praised the HNC research group was reformative to bring forward the science salon spirit to our country. She hoped by this kind of communication and exchanges, we could establish the harmonious research atmosphere and finally promote the development of the HNC interactive engineer research.　

In the antemeridian seminar, Prof. Huang Zengyang introduced several famous abroad science salons. Among them the most famous one was the German Gottingen Universitat. It was usually held in the famous mathematician Hilbert's home. This salon cultivated more than 20 scientists who once won the Nobel Prize in Physics. At that time, almost all the famous physicists and mathematicians had once joined the activity. Robert Oppenheimer -- the father of atom bomb even came all the way for it from the far American. The discussion among these scientists simulated the spirit inspiration, which brought many wonders. The most surprising one was a housewife named Mayer even won the Nobel Prize. She immigrated to American with her husband in 1930. She had been housewife and part-time workers for 20 years. In 1095, she published her paper named "Nuclear Configurations in the Spin-Orbit Coupling Model", which let her obtain the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1962. And the benefit form the science salon contributed a lot for her academic achievement.　　 

Another wonderful science salon was the "Olympia Institute" organized by Einstein, Solovine and Habicht, which started the new age of natural science. Although they had different research interests in Physics, Philosophy and Mathematics, they together read many classic masterpieces, had warm discussion and even argument. It was not exaggerated to say if there was no "Olympia Institute", there was no Principle of Relativity.　 

At last, Prof. Huang made a conclusion. He said science salon was an expression of science freedom. The place and the ambitious scientists was enough for the salon. The spirit for the salon was innovative and creative. In the salon, any problems can be raised and discussed. There were no teachers and students here. We just had the differences in scientific standpoint and viewpoint. The conflict bore the principle and the discussion simulated the sparkle. Science was developed just because of these successive conflicts and discussions. 

In the afternoon seminar, the researchers of the HNC group presented respective recent research results. As the end of the whole day's activity, the attendants together decided the topics for the following salons, which would be held in IACAS.
