Doctor Wang Xiaomin was born on Nov. 23, 1960. He obtained his bachelor and master degree from Xi'an Polytechnic University in 1982 and in 1988, respectively. He got his doctor degree from Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IACAS) in 1998 and furthered his researches as a visiting scholar in Duke University in 2002.

Doctor Wang is now the director of IACAS and the director of IACAS academic committee. Apart from working hard in IACAS as a professor and a doctorial supervisor, he takes much social responsibilities, such as the director of the Ultrsonic Testing Branch of Chinese Acoustical Society and the managing director of Chinese Journal of Medical Imaging Technology.

Doctor Wang's main research field includes ultrasonic nondestructive testing, propagation and radiation of sound wave in complicated solid medium. He had made his great efforts in many state science and technology projects.  In addition to the theoretical acoustic studies, Doctor Wang also paid much attention to application research. He was granted 2 invention patents by the authority organization in China.

Doctor Wang has published more than 50 papers in the domestic and international journals.

For his great contributions to acoustics, he was honored National Defense Science and Science & Technology Progress Award of 2nd grade by Commission of Technology and Industry in 2004 and the State Science & Technology Progress Award of 2nd grade in 2005.
