MIMO radar has emerged as a new paradigm in the modern radar technology and has been intensely studied over the past few years. Though in some aspects MIMO radar shows excellent performance in comparison to the traditional radar, it still relies on waveforms to realize its full potential. Naturally waveform design for MIMO radar has attracted a lot of attention, and many works on this topic have appeared.
CAI Long, MA Xiaochuan, YAN Shefeng and XU Qi of Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Sciences carried out a series of studies and presented a new phase-code sequence for MIMO radar waveform design.
It can obtain comparable autocorrelation and cross-correlation properties with Deng sequences and good to lerance to small Doppler shifts. Very long sequences could be designed with large set size, and it doesn't greatly increase computation cost. Some numerical simulations have been presented to demonstrate the good performance of the pulse signal coded by Gold sequences.
