Research on Encoding Phonetic Characters of Mongolian, Tibetan and Uyghur passed the final examination

Recently, Research on Encoding Phonetic Characters of Mongolian, Tibetan and Uyghur accepted the evaluation and successfully passed the final examination. This project is affiliated to Establishing Criterion and Information-based Ethnic Character of National Language Committee and undertaken by Language Knowledge Processing Research Team of CAS Institute of Acoustics. The members of expert panel came from Institute of Language Application of the Ministry of Education, Chinese Information Processing Society of China, Tsinghua University, Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and CAS Institute of Software of Chinese Academy of Sciences.

After listened to the research report about "Encoding Phonetic Characters of Mongolian, Tibetan and Uyghur (Draft), which introduced the progress, completeness, and research results of the whole project systemically, experts pointed out this research studied the syllable of ethnic language, encoded the specific words according to the phonetics of words and the code of the phonetics, and realized the task of providing the information of word morphology and pronunciation. The research was innovative and of great significance. After warm discussion, all members of the expert panel approved the research passed the examination unanimously.

Owing to the research results of the project, the morphology and pronunciation of Mongolian, Tibetan and Uyghur can be transformed to each other conveniently, which lay a good foundation for ethnic culture communication.
