"Seminar on Earthquake Geodynamic and Monitoring/Forecasting" was held at the Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IACAS) on Oct. 23.

Professor V. Sibgatulin with his research group from the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences was invited to the seminar by Researcher YANG Yichun of IACAS. Other invited professors come from the China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) and the National Chung Cheng University.

Before the seminar, acoustic equipment designed by IACAS was demonstrated, including the Acoustic Camera and infrasound microphones which received high acclaim.

On the seminar, LI Xiaodong, director of the Communication Acoustics Laboratory of IACAS expressed his warm welcome to all the invited professors. And Researcher YANG Yichun introduced IACAS’s research progress on low frequency infrasound waves applying in earthquake prediction.

Prof. V. Sibgatulin shared his research interests entitled “Assessment of gravitational tides impact on stress and strain state of geological environment for the purposes of earthquake prediction”. Besides, Prof. YANG Weiran and Prof. ZENG Zuoxun from the China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) also presented their research fields of earthquake monitoring and prediction.

At the end of the seminar, a gift was given to the Communication Acoustics Laboratory by the Russian guests, expressing their appreciation for this invitation and will of establishing future cooperation on earthquake prediction.
